Periodontal Treatments
Full Mouth Debridement:
Full Mouth Debridement is a generalized cleaning to enable comprehensive periodontal evaluation and diagnosis. In other words, this cleaning is for the removal of plaque and calculus (tartar) above the gum line. Extensive deposits of calculus and gingival inflammation will prevent your dentist from obtaining accurate readings for periodontal diagnosis. This is a preliminary procedure and does not preclude the need for other procedures. The next step is an oral examination and periodontal charting to determine the extent of periodontal disease. This is a therapeutic treatment and not a preventive care.
Chlorhexidine:
Chlorhexidine is used to perform a medicated pocket irrigation done at the end of each visit. This will also be used at home for rinsing daily through the therapy. It allows for healthy reattachment of the gums to the root surfaces and reduces the bleeding.
Fluoride:
Fluoride is a medicated fluoride for daily home use, to help control plaque build up, to control tooth decay, and to prevent or reduce sensitivity.
Periodontal Scaling and Root Planning:
This procedure removes plaque and calculus from both the crown and the root of the tooth. Scaling and root planing is time-consuming and often requires local anesthetic. This therapeutic treatment is usually associated with moderate to severe periodontal disease with the presence of periodontal pockets.
Oral B 4000:
The Oral B 4000 is a professional home-care plaque control instrument designed specifically to remove plaque above and below the gum line, and between the teeth where your gum pockets are deeper. Only the Oral B 4000 has patented Deep Clean mode that removes up to 99.7% of plaque from hard-to-reach areas. Find out more about Oral B 4000 at http://www.prodentec.com

Periodontal Maintenance:
This procedure is for patients who have completed periodontal treatment and who have a history of periodontal disease. 3-Month Periodontal RECARE Visits is a non-surgical approach to control periodontal disease. There is NO CURE for periodontal disease - it can only be managed or controlled. The bacteria that causes the disease re-establishes within 3 months after treatment. A 3-Month Recare visit is critically timed to disrupt these bacteria in pockets that measure greater than four millimeters, in order to disable the destructive process at its critical stage. This critical stage is when the bacteria and their poisons do the damage to the structures, namely, the periodontal attachment. For our patients with periodontitis, a supportive 3-Month Recare is not an option, but a requirement for successful therapy. Waiting longer than 3 months may result in advanced inflammation and may require redoing the therapy, and/or possible surgery.
