What Can I Expect on My First Visit?
“There is a genuine feeling of calm starting at the front desk and ending with the check-out desk and everything in between. Every associate that I encountered was smiling, friendly, and welcoming.” – Jean K.
Welcome!
We are thrilled that you are preparing for your first visit at Park Family and Cosmetic Dentistry! Our goal is to ensure your comfort in every aspect of your visit, beginning with your entrance into our reception area. Here you will receive a warm welcome from our greeter, who will give you a tour of the office and also a gift from us. Your next steps will depend on whether your first appointment is a complimentary consultation or a dental exam.
Complimentary Consultation
At Park Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, we offer complimentary consultations for patients looking to explore their options in smile makeovers, full-mouth reconstruction, dental implants, and sedation. When you come for a consultation, you’ll have the opportunity to meet briefly with one of our dentists to ask questions and get acquainted. Please bring copies of your x-rays so that we won’t need to take any. When you’re ready to move forward, we’ll be happy to get you scheduled for your initial exam.
Your Dental Exam
When you come for your dental exam, your appointment will last about two hours, which includes the exam and cleaning. To get started, we’ll need you to complete the New Patient Registration and Health History form, which you can access online through our Patient Info and Forms page. If you prefer to complete the form in our office, please arrive at least 15 minutes early so you have plenty of time to do so before the start of your appointment.
After your tour, you will be handed into the care of one of our dental assistants, who will then go over the medical history on your form. Next, he or she will take a full set of intraoral x-rays as well as some digital photos to put together a complete picture of your dental and oral health. After this step is complete, you’ll get to meet your dentist, who will take some time to get to know you. He or she will then examine your teeth, mouth, throat, tongue, and gums as well as the x-rays and photos to assess your health and make any necessary treatment recommendations.
Your Dental Cleaning
If your gums are in good health, you’ll also receive your regular dental cleaning at this appointment. The hygienist will come in and spend about an hour with you to ensure a thorough cleaning. If a basic cleaning isn’t appropriate for your situation, your dentist will explain your treatment options, and we’ll schedule your treatment for the day and time that works best for you.
