Porcelain Veneers
When was the last time you really smiled? If your teeth are visibly affected by chips, spots, or gaps, you may feel that your smile detracts from your appearance. At Park Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, we don’t want you to be self-conscious of your smile. We invite you to restore your true beauty by recreating your smile with porcelain veneers.
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are thin ceramic wafers that fit over your existing teeth to give each tooth a completely new look. When designed by an expert cosmetic dentist and crafted by a master ceramist, veneers seamlessly cover the imperfections of your teeth. They are custom-created in the color and shape that best suits your ideal appearance with all the translucency and light reflectivity of natural teeth.
The image at left shows just how thin porcelain veneers are. This allows them to fit smoothly on the surface of your teeth with only a small amount of preparatory enamel removal required. Some veneers – known as ultrathin or no-prep veneers – are so thin that they can be bonded to the teeth with no tooth preparation needed. Our cosmetic dentists are experienced with prep and no-prep techniques and will use the type of veneers that is best for your unique situation.
Porcelain Veneers: From Design to Finished Smile
At your first appointment with us, you will be given a complete dental exam as well as the opportunity to discuss your smile aspirations. If you have a photo that encapsulates your ideal image, bring it with you. We’ll take x-rays, scans, and several digital photos of you so that we can examine your oral health and assess your facial characteristics. This information will help us come up with the design that is best for you. After arriving at a design, we’ll create a model — either digital or composed of wax — of your new smile to see how you like it. If you don’t love it, we will work to get it right until you do. As long as your teeth and gums are in good health, you’ll be ready at this point to have your teeth prepared, which means that just a small margin of enamel will be removed from each tooth being veneered. This will allow for a smooth fit with no ridge. (If your veneers are the no-prep variety, this step will be skipped.)
Once this process is complete, you’ll be given a set of provisional veneers so you can try out your new smile! These will be printed using a 3D printer in the exact design of the wax model. Wearing your trial set will give you a chance to make sure that your veneers look, feel, and function exactly the way that they should. We will adjust them as needed until you are completely satisfied. Then we’ll take an optical scan of the provisional smile and send it to our ceramist, who will begin crafting your veneers out of porcelain using the scanned image as a template. When your veneers are ready, you’ll have a chance to try them on using a special non-permanent paste before we bond them. This way, you’ll be able to make absolutely sure that you love your veneers before they are affixed.
Beautiful Smile Guarantee
If for any reason you try on your new smile and don’t completely love it, we will work with our ceramist to make any necessary changes to the porcelain. Your veneers will not be bonded on until you are sure that you love them. That is our beautiful smile guarantee. “I’ve struggled with the appearance of my front teeth from childhood after an accident left my front teeth broken. I have never been truly satisfied with the results. That is until I found Dr. Long! After we decided together that veneers are what I would be most happy with, that’s when the magic happened. He made my front teeth look and feel like I only ever dreamed they could. I am more than satisfied, I am ecstatic! Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship and Dr. Long is a perfectionist. I can’t stop SMILING! I LOVE MY NEW SMILE.” — Chelsea P.
Cosmetic Dentistry Credentials
It takes a high level of artistry and expertise to create aesthetic and natural-looking veneers. Dr. Long Huynh is the only dentist in Naples, FL to be accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Accreditation in cosmetic dentistry requires the fulfillment of extensive postgraduate training as well as a stringent written, oral, and clinical evaluation process. Other dentists at Park Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, also AACD members, are pursuing this accreditation as well.
Another difference you’ll benefit from here at Park Family & Cosmetic Dentistry is having your porcelain veneers crafted by our own ceramist. While other dentists have to communicate across distance with technicians whom they may never have met, we have the luxury of an in-house dental laboratory operated by professionals we know and trust. This lends precision to the final result as well as a reduction in wait time.
