Naples, FL Dental Anxiety

I have an extreme fear of going to the dentist. I have put it off for years. I broke my front tooth Thursday. They were able to get me in Friday morning. I had NO pain and amazing results. They put me at ease from the moment I walked through the door. I have already scheduled a cleaning and complete oral exam for next week. — Holly S.

It’s not uncommon to have a fear of going to the dentist. In fact, it’s estimated that over one-third of all people suffer from dental anxiety. At Park Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, we’ve helped numerous patients just like you get the care they need by easing their dental fear.

Dental Anxiety — How We Can Help

We are a team of compassionate professionals who specialize in providing gentle care. Our gentle approach includes emotional support but is so much more than that. It’s about minimizing pain and providing tangible comforts as well as conscious sedation options. To minimize pain during your treatment, we administer novocain through a Single Tooth Anesthesia System, a form of dental technology that slowly and comfortably releases the numbing agent precisely in the desired location. We also offer nitrous oxide, a mild sedative, to strengthen the effects of novocain as needed to ensure total localized numbness.

A woman relaxes in a dental chair without any display of anxiety while the dentist provides care.To keep you comfortable during any visit, our dental chairs are equipped with massage and heating capabilities so you can truly sit back and relax. At your request, we are also happy to provide lip balm or a blanket. These simple comforts make a great deal of difference for many patients. But we know that those who struggle with higher levels of dental anxiety may need something more. For these patients, conscious sedation is an ideal solution.

Conscious Sedation for Your Dental Anxiety

In this state, you are able to carry out simple requests like opening your mouth yet you likely won’t even remember your appointment later.

At Park Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, we offer two types of conscious sedation, oral and IV. Oral sedation works by taking a pill one hour ahead of your appointment time. IV sedation is the heaviest type of conscious sedation and is typically recommended for patients with severe cases of dental anxiety.
